Unexpected Access

Posted on

Not many of us know what happens at a funeral home before the wake begins. Not many of us probably want to know either. Its painful, its taboo but we cannot help wondering though.

Unexpected Access opens the doors to places which many consider forbidden but are still curious to know more about, like a funeral home, a reconstructive plastic surgery table, a forensics laboratory, and a seemingly harmless-sounding immigration checkpoint.

Join our fearless host Wong Lilin as she removes the mystery, secrecy, sometimes even fear as she takes you into a journey of places in Singapore to find the unexpected, unanticipated and sometimes even the surprisingly familiar. (Source)

Having watched the previous episode on funeral services, I am a little apprehensive about tonight’s show.

Last week’s show made me scared of dying. Well, not really fear death as per se but rather, it’s the post-death procedure that follows which freaks me out! As if a post mortem wasn’t enough to make me go weak in the knees, the embalmer had to cut me up again to remove my organs for preserving purposes and even using a sharp object to pierce into my heart to release the gases.

Then at the end of it all, my organs would be returned to my body and sewed up with what looked suspiciously like a huge fishing hook?! OMFG!

Tonight’s episode brings us to the pig abattoir where we’ll be shown how that plate of 咕噜肉 (Sweet & Sour Pork) arrives on our table. I’ve seen similar footage from those Buddhist VCDs which discourages the killing of lives. I’m sure you can find such VCDs for free distribution at any temples or even neighborhood shops which deals in prayers products.

I remembered vividly how a cow was killed: The poor cow was hunged upside down by the ankles while the butcher stabbed into the collar bone area of the cow with two sharp equipment. Blood starts gushing through the punctured holes onto the ground while the cow was left to die a slow, and agonising death.

And all this was done while the cow was still alive… and kicking

I may or may not watch tonight’s show, depending on the state of my stomach…

Will you?

Updates: Okay, I’ve watched it. Not as stomach-churning as the previous week’s show. It’s alot tamer than those from the VCDs I watched.

Tell Me Why?

Posted on

In my dream children sing a song of love for every boy and girl
The sky is blue and fields are green and laughter is the language of the world
Then I wake and all I see is a world full of people in need

Tell me why (why) does it have to be like this?
Tell me why (why) is there something I have missed?
Tell me why (why) cos I don’t understand.
When so many need somebody we don’t give a helping hand.
Tell me why?

Everyday I ask myself what will I have to do to be a man?
Do I have to stand and fight to prove to everybody who I am?
Is that what my life is for to waste in a world full of war?

Tell me why (why) does it have to be like this?
Tell me why (why) is there something I have missed?
Tell me why (why) cos I don’t understand.
When so many need somebody we don’t give a helping hand.
Tell me why?

(children) tell me why? (declan) tell me why?
(children) tell me why? (declan) tell me why?
(together) just tell me why, why, why?

Tell me why (why) does it have to be like this?
Tell me why (why) is there something I have missed?
Tell me why (why) cos I don’t understand.
When so many need somebody we don’t give a helping hand.

Tell me why (why, why, does the tiger run)
Tell me why (why why do we shoot the gun)
Tell me why (why, why do we never learn)
Can someone tell us why we let the forest burn?

(why, why do we say we care)
Tell me why (why, why do we stand and stare)
Tell me why (why, why do the dolphins cry)
Can some one tell us why we let the ocean die ?

(why, why if we’re all the same)
tell me why (why, why do we pass the blame)
tell me why (why, why does it never end)
can some one tell us why we cannot just be friends?

WHY? WHY?

Lily: A Hero For Mill Dogs

Posted on

I was browsing through youtube for more videos about puppy mills when I stumbled across this video about Lily, a Italian Greyhound who was rescued from the puppy mill.

Just like any other puppy mill dogs, Lily had a tragic story of her own to tell, one so filled with despair that it has left her in shambles. What brought me to tears was what Lily‘s rescuer, Theresa, had to say to Lily‘s breeder.

Why Do I Blog?

Posted on

I have lost all momentum to blog now.

In all my years of blogging, I have come across many crappy blogs which are full of grammatical and spelling mistakes but, they have alot of feedbacks and interaction with their readers!

I, on the other hand, proof read what I’ve written, ensure that the structure of my sentence is smooth and I also look up words in the dictionary to ensure that I’ve got the meanings right yet, the number of feedbacks I get from my readers is pathetic.

So, where does the problem lies?

Was it the way I write? Or does my contents bore people to death?

Sometimes, I questioned myself over the reason I blog?

To entertain people? An outlet to destress? Or simply to share my thoughts?

At times, it could get a llittle too devastating knowing that no one reads the entries I have posted. Or maybe there are people who do read my blog but, they didn’t make their presence felt.

Write something lar… Give this old man some face can?

What a stage performer wants at the end of the day, was the applause and recognition from his audience. Likewise, what a blogger yearns for, at least for me, is the interaction between him and his readers.

Imagine those old folks at the nursing home who had nobody to talk with thus bopian got to talk to the walls and plants instead. Like that very qi cham one, you know?

Receiving comments is like a driving force which fuels my passion to carry on blogging but if nobody appreciates it all, then why do I even waste time and effort doing it?

Thus, my question to you, my readers, is: Do you wish to see me carry on blogging? If you do, you know what you have to do, right?

RIGHT?

AN ANGEL

Posted on

http://media.imeem.com/m/wbjCDbKptI/aus=false/

I wish I had your pair of wings
Had them last night in my dreams
I was chasing butterflies
Till the sunrise broke my eyes

Tonight the sky has glued my eyes
‘Cause what they see is an angel hive
I’ve got to touch that magic sky
And greet the angels in their hive

Chours:
Sometimes I wish I were an angel
Sometimes I wish I were you
Sometimes I wish I were an angel
Sometimes I wish I were you

All the sweet honey from above
Pour it all over me sweet love
And while you’re flying around my head
Your honey kisses keep me fed

I wish I had a pair of wings
Just like last night in my dreams
I was lost in paradise
I wish I’d never opened my eyes

Chours:
Sometimes I wish I were an angel
Sometimes I wish I were you
Sometimes I wish I were an angel
Sometimes I wish I were you

But there’s danger in the air
Try so hard to be unfair
Danger’s in the air
Try so hard to give us a scare
But we’re not afraid

Chours:
Sometimes I wish I were an angel
Sometimes I wish I were you
Sometimes I wish I were an angel
Sometimes I wish I were you
I wish I were you
I wish I were you

I Wish I were A Little Braver…

Remember what happened four days ago?

Read it here if you don’t.

Today, I finally summoned enough courage to pull out the TV console (okay, just a little peep behind) and this is what I found…

That filthy thing…

Life is really unpredictable.

Four days ago, it was still alive and trapped among my forested kah moh but now, it 翘辫子 already.

I wonder why all kar chuaks have to flip over everytime they die?
